I came to Canada as a refugee at the age of 6. My single mother was responsible for taking care of my brother, grandmother, and I, so when it was time to go to university, she was unable to support my brother and I with tuition payments. In 2013, I graduated with over $30,000 of debt.

A university degree is now the equivalent of a high school diploma. It is difficult to start a future with thousands of dollars in student debt.

I am now a small business owner and want to purchase a home with my husband as well as start a family. Unfortunately, with so much debt, this is almost impossible to do.
