Education is a privilege, and I am grateful to have pursued post-secondary. I was the first in my family to attend University and did so without the ability for my mother to provide any financial assistance. I have been working contracts and delaying life choices i.e. buying a home and starting a family with my partner as I try to balance paying my student loan and saving money to try and enter the housing market. When the government's program was announced, I was happy for the opportunity for incoming students, yet disheartened as I would have been eligible for under the new program and would be free of student loans currently.
